Trixbrix R40 Curved Switches<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The curved switches from Trixbrix are fantastic and allow to fork or switch tracks on limited space. However, there is a drawback that comes with those switches: locos and cars easily derail when pulling from the peak to the outer curve of those switches. The reason is that these switches do not come with guard rails (check rails) on the outer track to prevent the axles from being pulled to the inner side of the curve, thus derailing on the frog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Mattzobricks Core Development Team member Hilbert has created a small 3d printed part, that can be mounted on the switch and acts as a railguard to prevent those derailings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Switches<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you want to convert a standard LEGO switches to meet the Trixbrix R40 geometry pattern, these instructions might help you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is what you need:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Standard LEGO switch<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Standard corner (R72)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • A stable pad<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Some 2×4 plates<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Sharp knife, e.g. a utility knife<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Gloves (recommended)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Please be aware of your fingers and handle with care!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If you have done everything right you can use these parts to undo your work. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

    Next you are modify the switch to work with a servo. Bend it slightly to open it.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

    Bend it from both sides.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

    Straighten here.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
