Which type(s) of reed sensors work?

[Joos Buijs]

As advised on the sensor controller page I’m looking for GPS-14a reed relais. Unfortunately they are not available in the EU so it seems I would need to wait ~5 weeks…
Could anyone share the necessary characteristics of reed sensors to work? Or, even better, alternative types that are proven to work? (I don’t want to wait 5 weeks 😉 ).
