Hi,
although we haven’t finished the automation yet, we wanted to motorize our steam train.
Inspired by this side and all this helpful information I built a controller for this train based on an Wemos D1 mini (ESP8266) and added a web page based remote control.
Whenever we completed the automation setup, I will be able to flash the MTC4PF firmware and control the train with it.
As most of the time with projects like this, it’s not complete but usable.

The whole thing is powered by two 18650 LiPo batteries and I was surprised myself that those provide enough power to drive the train at a considerable speed.

I tried to add an extensive
hardware documentation including a complete list of electronics and bricks (sets) used.

Hi, ich habe meine Servos noch nicht so richtig im Betrieb, um etwas über die Haltbarkeit sagen zu können.
Auf jeden Fall sind bei mir laut Aufdruck bei den Motoren für die dänischen Weichen diese Motoren verbaut:

Dort müssen die “Arme” der Motoren auch entfernt worden sein.
Bei denen für die TrixBrix-Weichen kann ich nicht reinschauen.

Das Gehäuse, welches ich zum 3D-Druck entworfen habe, habe ich um die Motoren MG90S (gekauft bei AZ-Delivery) herum konstruiert. Ich habe auch schon gehört, dass jemand SG90 Motoren verwendet. Aber die gab es bei AZ-Delivery gerade nicht.

Ich wollte in mein Gehäuse auch noch ein Loch einbauen, mit dem ich den Servoarm auch mechanisch justieren kann.

Wir haben uns R56-Kurven und Weichen von BlueBrixx gekauft. Die Qualität ist ordentlich.
Die doppelten und halben geraden Schienen von TrixBrix sind gespritzt und von der Qualität sehr gut.
Andere Schienen von TrixBrix, welche wir kauften sind 3D-gedruckt aber bislang sind wir mit der Qualität auch zufrieden.
Vor kurzem haben wir uns eigene Waggons mit LeoCad entworfen und uns dann die Steine via BrickLink gekauft. War zugegebener Maßen nicht billig aber hat viel Spaß gemacht.
Die Magneten für die Waggons kamen von BlueBrixx und auch hier ist an der Qualität nichts auszusetzen.

I don’t know if you saw the other pictures over at GitLab. There is a sort of cross shaped pocket in the housing giving room for the motor’s arm.
I haven’t added the gear plus arm to the model but might do it for a clearer pictures of how the motor is supposed to live in it’s housing.

This may help in picturing how the motor’s arm is supposed to operate within the housing.
I certainly will share pictures once I manage to print this thing. Not having access to a 3D-Printer (yet?) I would rely on someone to make a test print. Let’s see, how soon this will happen. 😉
