The R104 curved switch concept was invented by Mattzobricks in 2020.

The following illustrations describe the concept.

Type 1: SW-R104CR-16 / SW-R104CL-16

The idea of the R104 curved switch is to initiate two R104 curved sections that come out with a track distance of exactly 16 studs after 90° (from track middle to track middle).
The concept also works perfectly to create track switches within a 90° R104 curve section.
The concept can be extended by an infinite number of parallel tracks in the curve section.

Type 2: SW-R104CR-22.6 / SW-R104CL-22.6

There is also a 45° version of the R104 curve switch. The idea is similar as for the 90° degree version.
The difference is, that the parallel tracks come out after 45° already.
The 45° concept also works with parallel tracks.
This concept can also be extended by an infinite number of parallel tracks in the curve section.
Two 45° R104 curved switch section can be combined to form a double cross over within a 90° R104 curve section.
The example shows a compact entry to a 6 track station built with two R104 45° curved switches, three standard R104 switches and one R104 double crossing.

Type 3: SW-R104CR-32 / SW-R104CL-32

The third type of the R104 curved switch (SW-R104CR-32 / SW-R104CL-32) has a straight part of two standard straights (2×16 = 32 studs). Consequently, the two branching tracks come out with a track distance of 32 studs after a turn of 90°.
This switch can be combined with the 45° version of the switch.
The 32 stud version gives you more options especially when designing complex switch fields.

  1. Hi,
kann man diese R104 Bogenweichen irgendwo kaufen? Bei TriBrix gibt es sie wohl nicht.
